Finding a roommate means letting a stranger into your home. That only works if people here are who they say they are and behave decently. These are the rules that make that true.
Be a real person
One account, your own name, your own photos. Verify your phone. It takes a minute and it is the main reason this place is not full of throwaway accounts.
Be accurate
List rooms that exist, that you are entitled to offer, at the price you will actually charge. Use photos of the actual room. Say who lives there now.
Choosing a roommate, and the line
Who you share a kitchen and a bathroom with is a personal decision, and Canadian human-rights codes recognise that with a narrow exemption for shared accommodation. That is why a shared-home listing can state a gender preference and a whole-unit listing cannot.
The exemption covers preference, not abuse. Slurs, hostility, or advertising a whole unit as closed to a protected group are not choices about who you live with. They are discrimination, and they get removed.
Talk like a neighbour
Answer people. Say no plainly when it is a no. Silence wastes the time of someone who needs housing. No harassment, no pressure, no repeated contact after someone has stopped replying.
Keep money off the platform
Never ask for a deposit before a viewing, and never send one. We do not process payments between members, and anyone telling you otherwise is running a scam.
What happens when someone breaks these
Depending on what happened: content is hidden, the member is warned, suspended, or banned. Scam and safety reports are triaged first, within four hours. Bans are enforced against the verified phone number, not just the account.
